Recently introduced at the 2013 New York International Auto Show, the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro SS has been given a walk-around-style presentation by the carmaker’s marketing manager for performance cars, John Fitzpatrick.
What we find out from this video is thatChevrolet wanted to differentiate the V8 from V6 models with the restyled Camaro, so the SS received some styling tweaks inspired from the ZL1, including the hood extractor and the lower grille.
Of course, the most evident changes involve the headlights and taillights. Fitzpatrick says the shape of the new headlamps allows the addition of a functional fog lamp on the SS with the RS package. Speaking of the RS package, this option brings LED taillights instead of incandescent ones fitted on lower models.
As for the interior, the most important addition is the optional Recaro sport seats for the Camaro ZL1 and SS models. You can watch the video with John Fitzpatrick below.

Ford Confirms 1.5L EcoBoost for 2014 Fusion and Mondeo, but it's a 4- and Not a 3-Cylinder Unit

Ford just announced that it will launch a new 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine which will power the 2014 Fusion in the U.S., among other models. Contrary to a report earlier this week from the website Fordinsidenews, the engine will not be a 3-cylinder, but a more conventional inline-four unit.
Production of the new engine will begin later this month initially at Ford’s facility in Craiova, Romania, which also makes the 1.0-liter 3-cylinder EcoBoost engine and the B-Max small MPV. In the future, the 1.5-liter unit will be made in other Ford plants as well.
In a previous release, Ford had said in the China-market Mondeo, this engine will deliver a maximum output of 177hp (132 kW) at 6,000 rpm and peak torque of 177 lb-ft (240Nm) from 1,500 to 4,500 rpm. The Blue Oval said it expects the new gasoline engine to provide similar performance to its current 1.6-liter EcoBoost, “while delivering improved fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions.” The 1.6-liter EcoBoost produces 178 horsepower and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of torque.
Ford added that the new powerplant has a new aluminum block and will include “some of the innovative features introduced on the award-winning 1.0-liter EcoBoost such as an integrated exhaust manifold.” The 1.5-liter EcoBoost is the first engine from Ford to incorporate a computer-controlled clutch on the belt-drive water pump, which Ford says improves efficiencies by reducing warm-up time.
Another advantage of the 1.5-liter EcoBoost is that it will strengthen Ford’s position on those markets that offer tax relief to consumers purchasing vehicles with engines of 1.5-liter capacity or less.
The new engine will be first introduced in China in the all-new Ford Mondeo, set to debut next week at the Shanghai Auto Show, and will also power the Fusion sedan in North America this year and later on, the European version of the Mondeo.

Just like kids who can't resist wearing an Iron Man's plastic mask, Audi too can't stop associating itself with the Marvel comics superhero and the third film in the Iron Man franchise that will see Tony Stark, played by actor Robert Downey Jr., using a battery-powered R8 e-tron coupe for his casual strolls around town. While the movie won't be out until May 3rd, Audi is using its product placement in the movie to promote the launch of the updated 2014 model year R8 that went on sale in the States today, through a new online advertisement. The funny thing about this ad is that, Audi didn't exactly created it from scratch, but instead used most of the scenes from this commercial, adding in the Iron Man references...
The 2014 R8 comes with some light cosmetic tweaks inside and out, including the use of newly styled LED headlamps and taillights, plus more importantly, the introduction of a newly available seven-speed S tronic transmission across the range that improves the 0-60 mph time by 0.3 seconds on the 550hp R8 V10 Plus.
Pricing for the refined model start from $114,900 for the V8-powered coupe and rises to $179,645 for the V10 Plus.

Ford Simplifies UK Mondeo Range, Gives Entry Level Model More Kit

The Ford Mondeo is a firm favorite with British car buyers, and it is still a strong buy, despite the fact that it is long-overdue for a replacement in the form of the European version of the Fusion sedan. Now, Ford has announced that it will be simplifying the range, and will be offering two new spec levels in the United Kingdom.
The first new trim is called Graphite, and sits at the base of the range. However, if you were expecting hubcaps and raw plastic trim pieces, you were wrong, because you don't get those…any more. This new entry level offering now gets 17-inch alloys, LED daytime running lights, body-colored handles and mirrors and a rear lip spoiler (on the five-door) as standard, as well as sports suspension on the 1.6 and 2.0 TDCi diesels.
Titanium X Business Edition is the name of the second new trim, which is aimed at fleet buyers, and is considerably more expensive than the £15,955 Graphite – it costs £21,995, but it gets a lot more equipment. Features such as rear privacy glass, front and rear parking sensors,  leather seats, 7-inch touchscreen, push-button start and automatic lights and wipers all come as standard. Actually, the car has a lot more standard features than we could include here, and even with the higher asking price, it's still not bad value.
The ageing Mondeo gets the latest safety technology and it can alert you if you've left your lane, stop you at low speeds if it senses an impending crash, and even dim your lights for you on long night journeys. Also, the 2.0-liter diesel, still the pick of the range, has been fettled-with, and with the help of slightly improved aerodynamics, the car achieves a lower figure of 119 g/km CO2 for the liftback, and 120 g/km for the estate/wagon.
Economy has also been improved for the 163 PS (161hp) diesel, and it rises from 57.6 to 61.4 mpg. All this means is that in the UK, the Mondeo costs just £30 per year to tax, which is down from £105, which is what older two-liter diesels were quoted for.

Bugatti Veyron GS Vitesse Sets New Open-Top Speed Record at 409KM/H (254MPH)

Following the 2010 world speed record achieved by the Veyron 16.4 Super Sport (431,072 km/h/267.8 mph), Bugatti has set a new benchmark, this time with the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse.
Driven by Chinese racing driver Anthony Liu, the convertible Veyron reached a speed of 408.84 km/h (254 mph), enough for the German organization for Technical Inspection and Certification (TÜV) to certify it as the world’s fastest open-top production sports car.
Although Bugatti announced a top speed of 375 km/h when it introduced the Vitesse, it looks like they couldn’t resist the temptation of exceeding the 400 km/h mark. The record was set at the Volkswagen Group’s proving grounds in Ehra-Lessien, Germany.
The Vitesse was driven by Chinese entrepreneur and race driver Anthony Liu, who praised the stability and comfort of the Bugatti, even at speeds of more than 400 km/h. “The car is even at such high speeds incredibly comfortable and stable. With an open top, you can really experience the sound of the engine and yet even at higher speeds I did not get compromised by the wind at all,” Liu said.
The Bugatti Veyron 16.4Grand Sport Vitesse has been on the market since the spring of 2012. It is powered by an 8.0-liter W16 engine developing 1,200 PS (1,184 HP) and 1,500 Nm (1,106 lb-ft) of torque between 3,000 and 5,000 rpm.
The record car sported a dual-color scheme in black and orange, the same colors seen on the 2010 Veyron 16.4 Super Sport record vehicle.
To mark the occasion, Bugatti will sell a World Record Car (WRC) Edition of the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, limited to eight units. Each will be priced at €1.99 million ($2.61 million), before taxes. The World Record Car will be unveiled on April 20 at the Shanghai Auto Show.
