If you’re not one of the three billionaires who have shelled out nearly five million bucks forLamborghini’s Veneno special, the Germany-based Mansory tuning house may have just the thing for you. It’s called the Carbonado and, like the Veneno, is based on the Aventador LP700-4. It features a reworked bodywork that is 40 mm wider at the front and 50 mm at the rear, newly designed skirts and proprietary bonnet, bumpers, engine cover, rear diffuser and front wings.
Mansory claims that it’s the first time that a carbon fiber weave with a stealth-look is used on a car and, although the Carbonado is far from restrained in its looks, next to the OTT Veneno you could almost say it justifies the “stealth” description.
Despite that, it will smoke the 5 million Lambo. Sant’ Agata may have increased the stock V12’s power by a modest 40HP but Mansory has bolted two turbochargers and replaced the pistons, connecting rods, crank, crankshaft and cylinder heads with motorsport items.
All this have increased power to 1,233HP (1,250PS) for a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration time of 2.6 seconds and a 380 km/h (236 mph) top speed. Torque is electronically limited to 690 Nm (509 lb-ft) – presumably to keep the transmission from exploding…
The Carbonado rides on 20-inch front and 21-inch rear alloys wrapped in 255/30 and 345/25 Pirelli P Zero tires respectively. Finally, the cabin has been refurnished in soft leather and carbon and the aircraft-style starter button has been relocated from the center console to the roof. There's no word on the pricing yet but we bet it will be significantly cheaper (not to mention prettier) than Lamborghini's 50th anniversary "gift".
