The 2012 Mondial de l’Automobile or as most know it, the Paris Motor Show, is set to be the launch-bed for the refreshed Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4, which in the nine years it has been in production, has delivered some 13,000 units worldwide making it the brand's best-selling model. The Italian automaker's entry-level supercar enters the 2013 model year with a light cosmetic facelift and the welcome addition of a new variant named the "Edizione Tecnica".
Most of the exterior styling changes take place on the two ends of the car, with the front gaining a new bumper highlighted by triangular and trapezoidal forms, which are also applied to the rear bumper that sports a new diffuser.
Other differences over the outgoing model include the wider surface area of the engine air outlet to improve its thermodynamic efficiency, and new 19-inch “Apollo polished” alloy wheels painted in matt black with silver accents.
Buyers of the 2013 model will be able to enhance the Gallardo's look with an optional Style Package that offers high-gloss black paintwork on the underside of the front spoiler, front and rear grilles and the transverse element of the rear trim
For those who are looking for an even more special version than the LP 570-4 Superleggera and the LP 570-4 Spyder Performante, Lamborghini is launching the new Edizione Tecnica.
This model adopts the upgrades found on the Superleggera and Performante adding a fixed tall rear wing, brakes in carbon-ceramic technology and three new exclusive optional color combinations: Nero Nemesis (matt black) body with Arancio Argos (orange) details; Bianco Canopus (matt white) body with Arancio Argos accents; and Arancio Argos body with Nero Nemesis pillars and front air intakes.
According to Lamborghini, the Edizione Tecnica has a power to weight ratio of 2,35.
Along with these special edition models, and the base four-wheel drive Gallardo, the rear-wheel drive Gallardo LP 550-2 in Coupe and Spyder format will continue to be offered for the 2013MY.
