Finally, after a very long and anticipated wait, the 2013 FR-S sports coupe has arrived in Scion dealerships nationwide taking its place as the halo car for Toyota's youth-brand in the States.
The Scion-badged twin of the Subaru BRZ is available with a high-revving 2.0-liter boxer four-cylinder delivering 200-horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque, in a single trim level.
Prices start at $24,200 when equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox, and $25,300 with a six-speed automatic transmission, with neither price including a $730 destination and handling fee.
According to Scion, the FR-S has EPA-estimated ratings of 34 mpg on the highway when paired with the automatic transmission, and 30 mpg with the stick shift.
"The incredibly positive buzz surrounding the FR-S has generated an impressive list of hand-raisers and pre-sold orders," commented Scion vice president Jack Hollis.
He continued: "Scion is thrilled that the FR-S is now available throughout its strong network of about 1,000 dealers. We can’t wait for performance driving enthusiasts to get into the FR-S because we know that they are going to love it!"
