As an Enzo owner and a die-hard Ferrari enthusiast and collector, Grammy Award-winning English musician, and lead singer of the acid jazz band Jamiroquai, is always welcome at the carmaker’s headquarters in Maranello. He recently paid a special visit to Ferrari’s offices to take a look at its latest top-of-the-range supercar, the rather awkwardly-named LaFerrari.
Since Jay Kay is not an average Ferrari customer, his visit made the cover story of Ferrari’s official magazine. The British artist was in Italy to finalize details for his appearance at the music and literary festival “Collisioni”, which will take place on July 5 at Barolo, near Turin.
He used the opportunity to take a first-hand look at the LaFerrari and “the characteristics that make it unique in the world: technical innovation, performance, futuristic styling and the special feeling one gets from driving it,” wrote The Official Ferrari Magazine.
As it happened during Jay Kay’s previous visit to Maranello, he was welcomed by Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo. Obviously, Jay Kay had only good things to say about Ferrari’s new halo car. “It’s an amazing car and, just looking at it makes you want to drive it. I think it’s hard to imagine such a concentration of style, technology, performance and excitement all in the one package,” the artist said.
Kay also visited the factory and spent a long time in the Atelier Ferrari, where he was acquainted with the latest customizing options available for customers. Taking that into account, is it possible that Jay Kay came to Maranello to choose interior materials and options for his own LaFerrari? We don't know if he's actually one of the lucky 499 owners, but he sure fits the description of the rare Ferrari collector.
