Beginning from July, BMW will launch its 2013 model year 3-Series Saloon and 5-Series and 6-Series ranges in the UK. There are plenty of changes including the introduction of new models and engines.
In more detail and starting with the 2013 3-Series saloon, BMW will launch the new ActiveHybrid 3 with prices starting from £40,225 OTR. The high-powered hybrid will be available in SE, Modern, Luxury and M Sport trims.
The ActiveHybrid 3 features a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six petrol engine that works in tandem with a 40kw (54hp) electric motor for a combined output of 335hp (340PS) and 450Nm of torque. It can reach 62mph from zero in 5.3 seconds, and return a combined fuel economy of 47.9mpg UK with CO2 emissions of 139g/km.
Also making their debut in July are the 320i xDrive (from £27,400 OTR), the M Sport trim packages for all sedans (£3,000 over the cost of the SE model) and the 330d (from £33,280 OTR).
These models will be followed in November by the 47.9mpg 316i (from £22,850 OTR) and the 53.3mpg 320i EfficientDynamics (from £25,730 OTR).
For the 5-Series range, the 2013 model year sees the presentation of a new base 520d Gran Turismo powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel that's good for 181hp (184PS) and 53.3mpg on the combined cycle. The 520d Gran Turismo is available in SE or M Sport from £36,605 OTR.
At the same time, all other versions of the 5-Series Gran Turismo range gain Auto Start-Stop and ECO PRO which brings down their BIK rating by up to 5 per cent, while the 530d, 535d and 550i all get a power boost.
In addition, all 5-Series Touring versions now have automatic tailgate operation as standard for a price increase of £250, while all 5-Series body styles gain Voice Control at no additional cost.
Finally, the BMW has upgraded the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 on all 6-Series models. The new 650i engine produces 443hp (449PS) and 479 lb-ft (650Nm), representing gains of 41hp (42PS) and 37 lb-ft (50Nm) compared to the previous models.
