More than six months after the new 2013 Veloster Turbo made its world premiere at the Detroit Motor Show in January, Hyundai has announced pricing for the hottest version of its three-door model.
The new Veloster Turbo starts at $21,950 when fitted with a 6-speed manual gearbox and $22,950 with a 6-speed automatic, excluding a $775 handling and delivery fee.
In the case of the manual model, that's a $4,500 premium over the regular 2013MY Veloster motivated by a 1.6-liter naturally-aspirated inline four delivering 138hp, prices of which were also announced today.
The Turbo model is equipped with a newly developed 1.6-liter direct-injected twin-scroll turbocharged engine producing 201-horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 195 lb-ft of torque at 1,750 rpm with regular fuel.
Hyundai says the Veloster Turbo is estimated to deliver 26 mpg city and a "best in class" 38 mpg highway for the manual transmission model.
The most potent version of the Veloster series sports a unique body kit that includes a bolder hexagonal front grille, sculpted side skirts and new rear bumper with prominent diffuser vents in the lower fascia and central mounted twin tailpipes, plus bespoke 18-inch alloy wheels and LED taillights and headlamp accents.
In addition, the Turbo model will be available in a Hyundai-first Matte Gray paint.
Interior amenities include standard leather seats with Turbo-embroidered stitching in the seatbacks, a Turbo model-exclusive electroluminescent gauge cluster with two TFT screens positioned between the tachometer and the speedometer, heated front seats, push-button start and alloy pedals.
